It's been almost a year since Peugeot pulled the covers off of the magnificent looking 308 R, a hot hatch concept that hasn't yet made into production even in Europe. But now, the company is about to unveil yet another version of the car, this time the 308 R Hybrid, which will be debuted at the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show. This concept should be a powerful contender in the Euro hot hatch race, with enough power to make just as much fun as we like.

The 308 R Hybrid combines a 4-cylinder 1.6-liter gasoline engine that produces 266 horsepower with an 85kW electric motor rated at 114 horsepower. Equipped with a six-speed gearbox, the two motors will send power to all four wheels. Peugeot promises 0-62 mph times of 4 seconds flat, as well as electronically limited top speeds of 155 mph. The concept differentiates itself from run-of-the-mill 308s with larger tires and wheels, an aggressive modified front end, bumper and grille, and a tailgate spoiler.
