You could buy a new Xbox One console or a decent racing wheel for the price of this insanely expensive controller.
The release of Forza Motorsport 7 is fast approaching, in what is one of the most anticipated racing games of the year. It promises to be a gearhead's paradise with over 700 cars, including the powerful Porsche 911 GT2 RS and the Dodge Demon from Fate of the Furious. Gaming can be an expensive hobby, however. New games are more expensive than ever, and serious racing game fans often invest in pricey peripherals like steering wheels to enhance the immersion and realism of the experience.
Let's just say the price of this peripheral is definitely aimed at hardcore racing game and car enthusiasts. Porsche has collaborated with SCUF Gaming and Forza developer Turn 10 studios to create this limited edition Xbox One controller with a design inspired by Forza Motorsport 7's cover car, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The silver finish with black and red highlights are meant to mimic the car's interior, and there's also hand-stitched Alcantara for a premium feel. Only 2500 will be made, 2000 of which will be just the standalone controller priced at $299.95, while the other 500 are part of a bundle costing $365.95 with a scale model of the car.
Yes, you read that right. This is a gaming controller that costs nearly $300. For that money, you could buy a new Xbox One S console, or invest in a decent racing wheel. It's still considerably less than a real Porsche 911 GT2 RS, though. The release of the Porsche-inspired controller and Forza Motorsport 7 has certainly been well timed, coinciding with the Porsche 911 GT2 RS's record run at the Nurburgring. The Scuf Forza Elite controller goes on sale on October 7, four days after the release of Forza Motorsport 7.
