As far as widowmakers go, Porsche unintentionally pioneered the concept with the 930 Turbo, a car that became infamous for sending unskilled or overzealous drivers straight into the nearest bush. The modern 911 Turbo is a lot quicker but will compensate for errors in judgment much more effectively. Decades after that 930 Turbo, the mid-engined Carrera GT arrived and quickly became known as a hardcore sports car that should also be approached with caution. Get it right, and the 5.7-liter V10 and feelsome chassis will provide you with one of the drives of your life. Incredibly rare - only 1,270 were made, and only 644 of those were sold in the United States - it's a collector's dream and often sells for big bucks. Now, an especially striking example of the GT is up for sale in North Miami.

Silver is the most popular Carrera GT color, but this particular example was "exclusively recommissioned and fully repainted by Karosserie". Often associated with industry-leading restorations for Ferrari exotics, Karosserie even developed a special Lunar Red paint with actual lunar rock that was ground down into dust. That project was for an Aston Martin Valkyrie, just one example of the company's extraordinary restoration expertise.

Back to this Carrera GT, though. A 2005 example, it is finished in resplendent Rosso Fuoco as the previous owner wanted the car to match his collection of Ferraris. The impeccable red finish distinguishes this GT from most others on the road. It looks stunning, as it should considering the exorbitant cost - the restoration extended into six-figure territory.

The Rosso Fuoco color is the same as the one from the previous owner's LaFerrari, and the job required stripping the car down to its tub. Originally, this GT had a black exterior and black cabin, including carbon fiber trim accents. As part of the restoration, Karosserie replaced "any and all bolts, gaskets, and necessary items to get it to factory new condition." The leather upholstery remains original.

The car is being sold with a full luggage set, a history booklet, and both keys via duPont Registry. It's a Carrera GT like no other, and the lucky owner of this beast will get to enjoy a car that can exceed 205 mph. Besides its smart aerodynamics and groundbreaking full carbon fiber monocoque, there is a lot more that makes the Carrera GT a legend.
