Hummers are cool, if you're into the whole military-hardware thing. But Mil-Spec Automotive makes them even cooler. The midwestern restomodders have been at for a few years now, and have been producing upgraded Hummer H1s in limited quantities ever since. What you see here is the seventh of the dozen Launch Editions planned for production, each painstakingly worked over to the customer's tastes and demands.

Number 7 is a 4-door hardtop model, painted in Kevlar-infused Deep Sky Black paint to dial the tacti-cool level up to 11. To compliment the color, visible components have been powder-coated in semi-gloss black.

Inside, the seats are covered in Nappa leather with quilted stitching, and feature custom lumbar support specific to the owner. The semi-gloss black powdercoat is carried on inside, where you'll also find a Momo Prototipo steering wheel and a JL Audio infotainment system.

Like the others we've covered, #7 is powered by a 6.6-liter Duramax diesel V8 with 500 horsepower and 1000 lb-ft of torque, paired with an Allison six-speed automatic transmission in a nearly indestructible package. Mil-Spec also replaced some of the stock components with GM's simpler and more reliable NVG 242 truck transfer case.

Mil-Spec has also cranked up the Hummer's off-road capability with heavy-duty axleshafts and portal hubs direct from the military Humvee, with a new suspension system increasing travel to 13 inches all round. And all that weight and power can be slowed down confidently using the Wilwood six-piston brake system.

We don't know how much this particular example cost, but prices for the Launch Edition start at $218,499. For all that cash, you get unsurpassed levels of attention to detail, top-shelf components, and a virtually endless array of individual customization options.
