Few off-road vehicles can match the Mercedes G500 4X4 Squared, a crazy, special edition version of the previous generation G-Class. The 4X4 Squared was based on the 6X6 but came without the extra axle. But it still had portal axles, giving it an insane 17.7 inches of ground clearance that it could use to tackle nearly any terrain with. The car was incredibly expensive with its $274,544 starting price, but now you can have your own remote controlled version for much less.

It's called the Traxxas TRX4 Mercedes G500 Wagon 4X4 RTR, an RC car with crazy off-road ability. Just check out the video (shown below) of what this RC G-Class is able to achieve.

Underneath the G-Class body, the RC car uses an all-wheel-drive powertrain with remote differential locks, high and low gears, and portal axles (just like the real car). You don't even need to stop driving to engage the low ratios - just a simple press of a button on the remote will do it. Traxxas has made sure to keep the electronics safe from water with plastic inner fenders while aluminum shocks stand up to all sorts of off-road punishment. In the video, we see the car crawling up steep rocks and jumping through the air with no consequence. We wouldn't try these stunts in the real car, lest we foot a nearly $300,000 bill.

Pricing will vary depending on the retailer, but we did manage to find an example for less than $500. Traxxas also sells a variety of other off-road capable RC vehicles based on the Ford F-150 Raptor, Ford Bronco, Land Rover Defender, and Chevy Blazer. The company also has several street and rally models like the Ford Mustang, Ford Fiesta Rally car, and Ford GT. If you don't have enough money to go off-roading in a real truck, then maybe this is the alternative you need.
