This Track-Only Porsche Could Cost More Than A McLaren

Pricing / 23 Comments

There's a lot of car that this much cash could buy.

Automobile Magazine is reporting that the beastly track-only Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport will be priced at $165,000, plus taxes. The pricing comes courtesy of a leaked document, although the outlet didn't share details or a photo. (Consider this an anonymous document.) The GT4 Clubsport was revealed just a little while back and instantly took our breath away. Yes, the track-only nature ruins the fun somewhat but that allowed the engineers over at Porsche to create a truly crazy car that should have no trouble competing in any professional racing circuit.

According to the document, options for the GT4 Clubsport include air jacks ($4,200), Recaro bucket seats ($9,200) and a bunch of spare parts containing a new front and rear bumper along with replacement wheels ($9,000-$10,000). Fully optioned and with a bunch of spare parts puts the Cayman GT4 Clubsport at around $190,000 when you lump taxes into the equation. That money gets you a Nissan GT-R, Audi R8 and maybe even a McLaren 570S! Still, the Clubsport was built to race, not run around town. While the price may seem high people are paying for a race-ready car built by Porsche engineers. Why build it yourself when you can let the experts do it?

While we don't know what its performance times we'll be we do know that the engine comes from the Carrera 911 S and will be a naturally 3.8-liter flat-six. We should know performance times, and the official price, once the car makes its debut at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.
