TikTok Star Trades Free Nissan Frontier For Silverado

Offbeat / Comments

Nissan won't be loving this.

The world of social media is actively taking part in the steady decline of western civilization, and nowhere is that more apparent than on TikTok, the Chinese video-sharing social networking service that shows short clips of people doing stuff. Tik oker Nathan Apodaca is one of the platform's recent success stories, and one of his videos that went viral bagged him a Nissan Frontier. Ocean Spray earlier this year sponsored him the car after one of its products appeared in Apodaca's videos. One would think that this sort of gift would be appreciated, but the social media star has now gone and traded it in for a Chevrolet Silverado.

So what was the video that got him in the seat of a Frontier? Apodaca recorded himself gliding down the road on a skateboard singing along to Fleetwood Mac's Dreams whilst sipping on a bottle of Ocean Spray. That's all it took. The video garnered well over 20 million views. The TikTok star has now caused some controversy when he recently showed off his new ride: a Chevrolet Silverado. This move has got to hurt Nissan's feelings in some way, but at least a new model is on the horizon.

The Silverado 1500 isn't a bad upgrade however. This popular truck can cost over $60k fully loaded, and comes with some premium features. Under the hood of the Silverado 1500, you'll find a 285-horsepower 4.4-liter V6 engine, a 5.3-liter V8, a 2.7-liter turbo, a turbodiesel, or a mighty 6.2-liter V8 churning out 420 hp. The Silverado definitely has more presence on the road, and when you're a celebrity, it's all about the appearance of success, which, unfortunately, the Frontier can't provide. In a world where guys drinking Ocean Spray Cran-Rasberry juice on a skateboard are gifted with cars, no brand really wins.
