50 years is a long time, especially for a particular car model to be in production. Since 1964, the Ford Mustang has never stopped being in production. Just think for a moment just how many makes and models of cars have come and gone since. Tallying up that number is a daunting task. But in good times and bad, the Mustang has always been there. Of course it's had its lows (Mustang II) and many highs (Shelby Mustang GT500), but Ford has really done a great job of securing its integrity over the years.

And now with the all-new 2015 Mustang about to arrive in dealerships, Consumer Reports has put together a video that looks back at 50 years of testing the iconic pony car. Pay attention, as they note some of the early Mustang's specs. The numbers are almost unbelievable by today's standards.
