We're loving the front end inspired by the GR Yaris.
Japanese tuner TOM'S Racing, known for its work on cars such as the GR Supra, has revealed its new body kit for the Toyota GR Corolla, turning the aggression of the hot hatch's styling up to 11. With flared fenders and muscular styling, the GR Corolla already has an imposing presence, but the tuner has taken things further with its latest kit, giving the hot hatch new looks that appear to be inspired by those of the rally-bred GR Yaris. The new kit was produced in collaboration with the only Japanese driver in the full World Rally Championship, Takamoto Katsuta, who races for the Toyota Gazoo Racing factory team as of this season.
TOM'S Racing calls this the GR Corolla Type TK and says that its changes to the car improve cooling efficiency for both the engine and the brakes. At the front, the rectangular grille design of the GR Yaris has been reinvented and applied, along with a large front spoiler featuring winglets. A pair of imposing canards feature, too, while the profile shows off aggressive side skirt extensions.
At the rear, more flics and winglets are applied, including to the new roof-mounted wing. A new diffuser is another highlight, with this housing two more exhaust tips than the stock three-exit design. The tuner calls this the TOM'S Barrel system. Normally, so many finishers would be considered distasteful, but we think they work with the manga styling of the car very well, even if there are now more exhaust tips than cylinders.
"It is a great honor to be able to collaborate with the GR Corolla following the GR Yaris," said Katsuta, adding, "It looks cool, and I think that the GR Corolla, which was originally fun, will become an even more fun car, so I can't help but look forward to it."
Unfortunately, it's clear that this is no more than a digital render at this point, and there are no details on pricing just yet. But orders will open on March 1, with a release planned for the autumn. Presumably, the tuner will expand its range to include suspension upgrades and other components once these have been developed, but the underlying car is already so impressive that we'd be satisfied with exaggerating its styling alone.
