Germany-based tuning house Novitec specializes in Italian marques, and since its inception in 2004, has delivered a constant stream of impressive aftermarket packages. Less about show and more about go, Novitec focusing primarily on creating performance-orientated parts. The company's first project was a twin-supercharged Ferrari 360, and reworked Prancing Horses are what Novitec has become most renowned for, hence the inclusion of two Ferrari models in our top five list.

When Novitec Rosso got a hold of the Ferrari F12, it gave it more power for a higher top speed, a new set of wheels mounted to an upgraded suspension and a revised interior. The 6.3-liter V12 leaves the factory with 740 hp, but by remapping the ignition and injection, Novitec upped that figure to 763, while raising the top speed to 214 mph. Novitec also fitted the F12 with its NF4 wheels, which are mounted to in-house sport springs that can bring the Berlinetta up to 40 mm closer to the tarmac. An upgraded interior includes a variety of carbon-fiber and Alcantara- or leather-trimmed components.

With the Maserati GranCabrio, Novitec Tridente focused its attention under the hood while keeping the exterior modifications tasteful. It began by installing a supercharger system along with a water-cooled intercooler and a modified ECU. This combination boasts the total power output to 590 hp (up from 440 hp) and 492 lb-ft of torque (originally 362 lb-ft). Novitec also claims a 0-62 time of 4.5 seconds. A custom-made stainless steel exhaust system and KW aluminum coil-over sport suspension come with the package, which is completed by a new set of alloy wheels and a carbon-fiber body kit.

Novitec's enhancement program for the Abarth 500 included style elements in the form of one-piece lightweight alloys, a stainless steel exhaust and adjustable sport suspension. As for power, Novitec engine experts have developed different performance stages for the 1.4-liter T-Jet four-cylinder plant, ranging between 164 and 212 horsepower. The power kit charges the 500 with a special turbocharger, a more efficient fresh air supply, and an optimized air-cleaner box with sport air-filter cartridge. With all of these enhancements to the 500's performance, it's capable of going from 0-60 mph in just 6.8 seconds.

When Novitec tuned the ultra-rare Ferrari SA Aperta (the open-top version of the 599) it focused on vastly improving performance. By adding a dual supercharger kit to the 6.7-liter V12, output was upped from 670 to 888 hp and peak torque to 635lb-ft. Accordingly, top speed moved to 211 mph and the 0-62 run dropped to 3.1 seconds. Other options include lightweight forged wheels, sport springs, and a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system, while the exterior has been enhanced with a GTO-style front lip spoiler, side skirts and rear fascia. There's also clear-coated carbon-fiber components that come with a matte finish.

Novitec's tuning package for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta offers an interesting, and more exclusive alternative to the also-impressive Giulietta Cloverleaf, tuned by Alfa themselves. Thanks to a spot of ECU reprogramming an additional 20 to 25 horsepower can be coaxed out of the range of Giulietta engines, while there's also a new exhaust system for a more aggressive note. The front and rear fascia have been altered, and the rear now includes a diffuser and cut-outs for the new exhaust system. There are new wheels available in 18, 19 or 20-inches, and a new adjustable suspension lowers the car up to 76 mm.
