A new SX package for the Tacoma and Tundra has also been revealed at the Texas State Fair.
Automakers are using the Texas State Fair to reveal new special edition models to try and steal some spotlight before the upcoming barrage of car debuts at next week’s Paris Auto Show. Ram showcased the luxurious Ram Heavy Duty Rodeo Edition, and now Toyota has lifted the wraps off the 2019 4Runner Nightshade Special Edition.
To give the Nightshade a distinctive appearance, black accents have been added to the front and rear bumper spoilers, outer mirrors and door handles, window moldings, rocker panels, door garnish, roof rails and badging. At the front, Toyota has added a black chrome grille and the rear exhaust tip also gets the black treatment. Black 20-inch wheels round off the exterior changes.
Inside, the black theme continues with black trim on the steering wheel, center cluster and console panels, shift knob and shifter panel, and inner door grips. Available in Limited 4x2 or 4x4 models, the 4Runner Nightshade Special Edition adds a $1,740 premium to the 4Runner Limited’s $43,225 base price. It’s currently available to order at dealers in Midnight Black Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic and Blizzard Pearl colors.
In addition to the 4Runner Nightshade Special Edition, Toyota has also revealed a new SX Package for the Tacoma and Tundra. For the 2019 Tacoma, the package costs $560 and adds numerous black components including a grille, door handles and mirror caps, as well as tinted headlights, black badges and 16-inch matte black wheels. It’s available for SR grade models finished in Super White, Silver Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Midnight Black Metallic, Barcelona Red and Quicksand.
The SX Package for the Tunda SR5 Double Cab, on the other hand, removes all exterior badging and adds color-keyed front grille surrounds, front bumper end caps and a rear bumper, as well as upgraded seats and 18-inch black alloy wheels for an extra $1,630.
