For the 2020 model year, the Toyota Corolla Sedan was given a complete redesign and the result is a far more attractive-looking sedan than its conservative predecessor. But if you want to give the Corolla Sedan an even sportier look, Toyota is now offering a GR package that spices up the styling. Like the Toyota Corolla Hatchback GR Sport, the sportier style is inspired by Toyota's performance-focused GR models.

For the exterior, the chrome elements have been replaced with piano black trim applied to the front grille, door mirror casings, center pillars, and side sills. A black garnish also forms a distinctive C-shaped frame on the corners of the front bumper. The alloy wheels also get the black treatment with a contrasting bright machined finish applied to the ends of each spoke, while Toyota Gazoo Racing's signature red ring adorns the center cap. 17-inch ten-spoke wheels come as standard, or larger 18-inch wheels can also be fitted.

Enhancing the exterior is a subtle trunk lid spoiler finished in the car's body color, a black rear garnish above the license plate, and GR Sport badging on the rear. Dynamic Grey is the new signature color for the GR Sport, but Toyota offers seven exterior colors. Out of the eight available color choices, seven can be combined with a black roof for the first time on the Corolla Sedan.

Inside, the dark theme continues with black headlining, while the steering wheel is wrapped in perforated leather and brushed aluminum front scuff plates featuring the GR logo. The sports front seats are upholstered in black cloth and high-quality synthetic leather, with a contrasting vertical stitch pattern in white and red representing the Toyota Gazoo Racing colors.

The GR color theme is applied to the rear bench seat. Optional extras include an ambient lighting system, LED exterior lights and the bi-tone bodywork paint finish. Don't expect any powertrain upgrades, however, as the GR Sport is only a styling package, although rumors claim a hardcore, performance-focused GRMN Corolla hot hatch is on the cards. Let's hope the Corolla Sedan also gets the full GRMN treatment. Like the regular Toyota Corolla Sedan, engine options include a 1.8-liter four-cylinder and 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 169 hp and 139 hp, respectively.

Production of the Toyota Corolla Sedan GR Sport will begin in November 2020, with European sales starting in January 2021. US availability hasn't been confirmed.
