Toyota GT86 Sets the Pace for VLN

Of all the cars that can call the Nurburgring their home, the VLN endurance championship that's based there has gone with the Toyota GT86.

There are lots of cars you might say have been honed on the Nurburgring: the Nissan GT-R, just about every Porsche 911, BMW M cars of all shapes and sizes…. So what did the organizers of the VLN championship – an endurance racing series centered around the vaunted German track – pick as its new safety car? The Toyota GT86. Setting the pace for this year's VLN season will be a specially-prepared version of the GT86 Cup Edition which Toyota sells exclusively in Germany.

The special edition comes with 18-inch OZ alloys wrapped in low-profile performance tires and an Alcantara interior. From there, Toyota Motorsports GmbH gave it a full aero kit (complete with front apron, rear diffuser, side sills and a bootlid spoiler) plus a quad exhaust, stabilizers and new struts, all from the TRD parts catalog.
