Toyota Has New FT-1 Concept in the Works

Rumor

But this time, it won't be red.

Toyota is working on another FT-1 concept, signaling its intent to bring a production variant to market. That's according to a leaked copy of Motor Trend's July edition, which says the Japanese carmaker is creating another full-scale model of the FT-1 concept that was one of the undisputed stars of the Detroit Auto Show in January. MT points out the last time Toyota built two concepts was with the Lexus LF-LC concept, which was green-lit for production last year.

The automaker is hoping to match the 2,900-pound weight and 485-hp output the FT-1 Concept boasts in GT6, and a “hotter” widebody racing variant is also in the pipeline as part of a potential tie-in with the video game franchise.
