The next-generation Toyota Tundra is coming soon. An exact reveal date has not been announced by the automaker but, in the meantime, additional teaser images have arrived. We're more excited than ever as the Tundra is in dire need of an overhaul. The new images preview the full-size truck's "reimagined" suspension. But what's so different? The clearest hint provided is that this suspension design is all about "turning over a new leaf." Leaf, as in leaf springs.

Thing is, there aren't any at the rear. Instead, the new multi-link suspension setup has coil springs out back, just like in the latest Ram 1500, although in the TRD Pro pictured here, we see Fox shocks. Other rivals like the Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra twins still run on leaf springs.

A change as significant as this certainly gives the 2022 Tundra the upper hand in many situations, both off-road and on it, where coil springs typically provide more comfort than leaf springs. The other teaser image is the TRD skid plate up front. We already knew the TRD Pro variant would return after Toyota revealed it in June, but these new technical details suggest it will be better than ever. Past reports have also claimed claim the new Tundra will feature six-lug hubs for improved payload and towing capacity.

Chances are power will come from the new (but sadly overseas only) Land Cruiser's 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 409 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, which comes paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Earlier this month we heard a rumor a hybrid variant is also in the works and Toyota has confirmed the truck will be offered with two engines.

A diesel option has also been mentioned, specifically an electrified oil burner, but we highly doubt it'll come to the US. And like all other new trucks these days, the 2022 Tundra will boast a premium interior with optional leather upholstery, a larger infotainment screen, dual-pane panoramic roof, and a sliding rear window. The automaker already released one full exterior image revealing a more muscular, and sturdier-looking vehicle, though it is the fully-loaded TRD Pro. We especially like the blacked-out front grille, sharp headlights, and new wheel designs.

Hopefully, the teaser campaign is just about over because, and we don't think we're alone here, it's time for the new Tundra to show its face in full.
