Toyota's latest limited-edition model celebrates the Land Cruiser's 60th anniversary.
Having been on sale since 1958, the Toyota Land Cruiser is by far the longest produced vehicle in Toyota's history. To celebrate this milestone, Toyota Australia is launching a new limited-edition Land Cruiser dubbed the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Sahara Horizon. And when we say this is limited, we really mean it - only 400 examples are being made.
Based on the range-topping LC200 Sahara, the limited-edition Land Cruiser features several exterior enhancements to distinguish it including a unique grille with a dark finish, black headlight and smoked chrome front foglight surrounds. Inside, the Land Cruiser 200 Sahara Horizon is equipped with semi-aniline leather-accented seats with unique stitching and "LandCruiser" embossed into the backrest, along with a black leather-accented heated steering wheel.
Elsewhere, the new limited-edition Land Cruiser features unique door trim stitching, a black interior and headliner with chrome accents, Horizon badging and the Land Cruiser logo displayed in the front and rear puddle lamps.
Other equipment includes LED lights, side steps, 18-inch alloy wheels, moonroof, power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, four-zone climate control, a premium audio system, and satellite navigation, as well as the Toyota Safety Sense driver assist package.
"Toyota's history in Australia started with the original Land Cruisers brought into the country to work on the Snowy Mountains Hydro Scheme back in 1958 and since then, Land Cruiser has played a role in the lives of people across the country from the bush to the beach," said Sean Hanley, Toyota Australia Vice President Sales and Marketing.
"This new special edition Horizon model offers Land Cruiser customers stylish and more distinctive visual appeal in a vehicle that remains as capable and competent on and off the road, wherever they choose to travel," he said.
Under the hood is a 4.5-liter V8 turbo diesel that sends 268 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. In the US, the Land Cruiser packs a more powerful 5.7-liter V8 engine producing 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic.
Pricing for the Toyota Land Cruiser Sahara Horizon limited edition starts at $129,090 AUS, which is around $86,850 US dollars. In the US, Toyota launched the Land Cruiser Heritage Edition to celebrate the off-roader's 60th anniversary, which starts at $89,040.
