The Toyota RAV4 Prime was one of the more surprising reveals of 2020. That has less to do with the fact that it's a plug-in hybrid and more to do with its exceptional performance. With its 302-horsepower powertrain, it'll hit 62 mph in just six seconds, making it Toyota's fastest vehicle after the Supra GR. It makes sense, then, that such a rapid SUV should look the part too, which is where Modellista comes in.

Based in Japan, the company has had a hand in creating some pretty unusual cars, such as this Prius Concept. But its new aerodynamic kit for the RAV4 Prime - known as the RAV4 PHV in Japan - seems like more of a success.

The body kit adds a lot more attitude to the RAV Prime but stops just short of being over the top. It adds a front spoiler, some adventurous side skirts, and rear spats. Together with a 20-inch alloy wheel and tire set, headlamp garnish, and a front grille garnish, it's definitely one of the more assertive PHEV SUVs around.

For customers wanting a bit more interior glitz, an LED room lamp set can be fitted to the cabin. We especially like the kit paired with the Attitude Black Mica paint, but Gray Metallic and White Pearl Crystal Shine are available, too.

Owners of the regular RAV4 aren't excluded either, as they have access to a similar aero kit, although this one has smaller 19-inch alloy wheels. That said, it's still much more exciting to look at than a regular RAV4 without all the extras.

Both kits also make the RAV4 look decidedly sportier than the likes of the RAV4 TRD Off-Road and the RAV4 Adventure, but unlike those, the RAV4 Prime is best enjoyed on the road where its exceptional power output and ability to drive in silence without consuming a drop of gas can be fully enjoyed.
