The 24 Hours of Nurburgring race takes place this weekend and this year's edition of the famed German competition will feature four Toyota GT86s and one Lexus LFA. The LFA will compete in the SP8 class and the race-prepped GT86s will feature in the SP3 class. Gazoo Racing is running the LFA and two GT86s on the Nordschleife. The team will include technicians and personnel from Japan, who will study and take note of the car's performances for use in future development of new models.

The team has already won a pair of shorter-distance races at the Nurburgring with their LFA and the GT86 showed "promising results." "The momentum of our team is very good. Our target for the 24 Hours Nurburgring race is to maintain a steady pace, in line with the way we have chosen to set up the vehicles," said Gazoo Racing driver Akira Iida. "Nevertheless, we have run at good speed and confident we will be full ready before the 24-hour event." The two remaining GT86 racers will be run by the Toyota Swiss Racing Team.

This year marks the 40th running of the ADAC 24 Hours at the Nurburgring race. Racing competitions kick off on May 17th while the 24 Hours race starts on the 19th.
