Toyota to Replace Yaris in U.S., and a Concept Coming to Detroit?

Industry News

Toyota's little Yaris model hasn't seen any sort of real update since its debut in late 2006, but large changes are in the works. Toyota's North American operations have reportedly been pushing for the Yaris to grow in size, and we should see a conceptual preview of what's expected at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. Toyota is also said to be working on a hybrid powertrain for the Yaris, but for European markets only.

Odd, especially since Toyota has always talked about expanding its Prius nameplate to include a range of hybrid vehicles. Here hoping that the guys at Toyota will change their minds and take us over in the U.S. into account.
