Ask an American to picture a Toyota sedan and they'll probably think of the Camry or Avalon. Ask a European (particularly a Brit) the same and the Avensis will likely be on their mind. But in its home market, Toyota sells a sedan called the Mark X. Now the Japanese automaker has release the updated version you see here. Boasting more aggressive styling than the model it replaces, the 2013 Toyota Mark X features angular LED-intensive headlights, wrap-around taillights and more shapely fenders in between.

Japanese buyers can choose from a 2.5-liter V6 with 200 horsepower or a larger 3.5-liter V6 with 314 hp, driving through a six-speed automatic to either the rear wheels or all four. Toyota offers the Mark X in a variety of trim levels from the basic all the way up to the luxed-out Premium model and the sportier 350S G's. At the top of the pecking order, the new Mark X offers leather upholstery, a 12-speaker sound system, heated front seats and navigation system, bringing it almost up to Lexus levels of equipment.
