We feel sorry for the owner who was supposed to take delivery of this model.
Today marks a sad day for Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Coupe fans across the nation, as the first image of a crashed C8 Z06 (that we know of) has been posted to the internet.
Instagram user ZR1_M7 posted a picture of a black example sitting in an intersection in Bloomfield, Michigan, with considerable cosmetic and structural damage.
We are not too sure about the accident's particulars or even whether the Corvette driver was at fault. Still, we can assume that it sustained an impact towards the left rear section as the door and rear quarter panel both have severe dents and scratches.
We can also see that the side airbag has been deployed.
It must have been a reasonably hefty knock as the rear axle appears to have been drastically bent, causing the wheel to sink into the wheel arch in a manner that makes it look like a stanced-out build gone wrong.
Thankfully, the driver of the car exited the cabin unharmed. Fingers crossed, Chevrolet can repair this unit back to factory specification. Z06s are in seriously short supply, and if it needs to be replaced, the owner is in for a long wait.
Potential Z06 customers will look at this image closely to see whether it may be a unit they are waiting on. Still, considering that this doesn't have carbon fiber wheels, which excludes the Z07 performance package, the sample of owners can't be very big. It is understood that most orders have this option ticked.
Those who have already taken delivery of their cars are discovering that the mid-engined model is wickedly quick, even more so than what the manufacturer claims. In some cases, the claimed 0-60 mph time is being beaten by an impressive 0.4 seconds.
If any of the following information sounds appealing to you and you are now considering placing an order for the Z06, you'll be sad to learn that it will not be possible as the order books closed sometime last month due to massive demand.
Thankfully, you can start saving some funds for the imminent ZR1, rumored to return by 2026 at the latest, but this will be an even harder car to get your hands on as the production run is believed to be very small.
