Would you buy one?
Chinese carmaker Guangzhou Automobile Group Co Ltd. (GAC) wants to sell cars in the US; specifically, its Trumpchi brand of vehicles. So to build interest, a deal was struck with Michael Bay to allow several of its models to appear in Transformers: Age of Extinction. If you can move your focus away from the supercars for a few minutes, look out for the cars during the scenes that take place in China. One day you may see them on US roads.
Speaking with Automotive News China, Trumpchi boss Wu Song said: "We want to start exporting to the U.S. as quickly as possible and I am confident that they will find our Trumpchi cars competitive." GAC plans to kickstart its US adventure with the Trumpchi GS5 SUV, which in China comes with either a 2.0-liter four-pot rated at 145 hp and 138 lb-ft of torque or a 1.8-liter turbo-four good for 174 hp and 175 lb-ft. At the right price, would you buy one of these Made-In-China SUVs? At the moment that's not something to worry about, but it could become a serious question in the not so distant future.
