This fully customized Land Rover Defender looks like it's ready to get dirty.
Thanks to its independent suspension system, twin-speed transfer box, and a permanent four-wheel-drive system, the all-new 2020 Land Rover Defender is the most capable version of the iconic off-roader yet. Deliveries for the 2020 Land Rover Defender have finally begun, so it's probably only a matter of time before aftermarket tuners give it some hardcore upgrades.
Earlier this month, Chelsea Truck Company gave the new Defender a subtle makeover, but render designs released by New Defender Mods show us what a more rugged version with aftermarket and optional factory accessories installed looks like for off-road enthusiasts who want to get their Defender dirty.
To make the Defender even more capable of handling tough terrain, the artist has added a lift kit by Lucky8 Off-Road that increases the ride height by two inches, and 20-inch wheels wrapped in Goodyear all-terrain tires.
Other modifications include a factory front winch, factory snorkel, ladder, roof rack, wheels, rear locker, and recovery hooks. In addition, New Defender Mods have added custom side brush bars, a rock slider, and windshield bush cables. Inside, the off-road-focused Defender has been fitted with a factory compressor, deep rubber floor mats, and a cargo barrier.
The powertrain, on the other hand, remains stock. In the US, the 2020 Land Rover Defender is offered with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 296 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque and a 3.0-liter turbocharged mild-hybrid inline-six good for 395 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is mated to both powertrains.
If you want more power, reports suggest Land Rover is working on a limited-edition version of the new Defender with the same 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that powers the Range Rover Sport SVR and Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography, tuned to produce around 500 hp. Pricing for the 2020 Land Rover Defender 110 starts at $49,900, but the price will obviously increase once you start adding some of the optional accessories shown in these renders.
