On receiving this news, Skynet has had to push Judgment Day back a few years.
As amazing and sophisticated as the many sensors and computers are in prototype autonomous cars these days, it's not so surprising to discover that their Achilles heel is rain. The footage that you see here is from Hyundai, and it shows some pretty standard autonomous vehicle testing. This very same car had gone through the same tasks the day before without incident, but as you'll see in the video, the rain changed everything.
So those of you who fear the loss of control that would come with the ushering in of autonomous cars can probably just sit back for a few more years before you start on that panic attack.
