Ultra-Rare Maseratis

Offbeat

Celebrating 150 years of Italian unification by looking back at some recent Maserati rarities.

Maserati has decided to give Italy a present for its 150th birthday in the form of the GranTurismo S Limited Edition. Only 12 of these cars will be made and they will only be available for purchase in Italy. The rarity of the GranTurismo S may seem unique, but Maserati has matched and bettered the 12 model limit many times in the past few years. If you're wondering what could be rarer than a GranTurismo S Limited Edition, then continue reading on.

This special four-seater made its debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and was designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi (the accessory head at Fendi). The Fendi GranCarbio features the company's logo and signature yellow coloring throughout the interior and exterior. Unfortunately for those looking to accessorize, only one of Fendi GranCabrio was ever made.

Maserati recently decided to sell a street-legal MC12 Corsa for the uber-expensive price of $1 million Euros ($1.3 million). The MC12 Corsa was originally designed for track use only, but through some modifications, Maserati was able to get one street-legal. Just because it's legal doesn't make it any less beastly however. The MC12 Corsa pushes 745 horsepower, tops out at 205 mph and can do 0 to 124 in 6.4 seconds.

GT Carbin is a Maserati concept that is rumored to be launching in 2020. The GT Carbin features a V12 engine and a unique set of doors that slide forward to open. Here's hoping Maserati stays the course and puts the GT Carbin into production. I'd bank on Maserati making the release of the GT Carbin highly exclusive.

As mentioned before, the GranTurismo S Limited Edition is one of the rarest Maseratis ever made. This matte blue beauty features 20-inch rims and carbon door handles, spoilers and side mirrors. The GranTurismo S will be perhaps the most awesome gift given to Italians to celebrate their 150 years of unification.
