Now this is something you don't see every day whether on eBay or anywhere else. This extremely rare 1971 AC 428 Frua Fastback has just been listed on the auction site. For those who aren't familiar with them, the AC Frua was a British GT car built by AC Motors beginning in 1965 until 1973. They were built on the AC Cobra 427 Mark III's chassis, which was extended by six inches. Chassis work was done in the U.K. before they were shipped off to Frua's workshop in Italy for the body work.

They were then brought back to the U.K. to have the engine and trim added. All told, only 81 cars were built, with just 49 of them being coupes (the remaining ones were convertibles). They were powered by a 7-liter iron "big block" Ford FE 428 with 345hp and 474 lb-ft of torque. Some models were fitted with the higher performance crossover bolted Ford 427 engine that produced 385hp and 427 lb-ft of torque. Each was mated to either a four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic. Sadly, the AC Frua was never fully developed due to financial issues.

The only major technical issue with them was the fact that the big block engine had a tendency to overheat the cabin. Fortunately, this can now be fixed using modern insulation methods. The right-hand drive AC 428 shown here has a little over 44,000 miles (3,000 of which were put on since 2006) and has the automatic. Its exterior is painted white with a black leather interior. It's being sold on behalf of its original owner. The car was originally painted blue but was repainted white in 1989. It also comes with many extra parts, source books, and paperwork. Overall, it appears to be in excellent condition and can be all yours for the 'Buy it Now' price of $105,000.
