Yes, you read that right. The Ferrari 500 TRC (Testa Rossa Type-C) Spider was one of the last Ferraris built with an inline-four. It's engine was designed by Aurelio Lampredi for Formula Two, but Ferrari dropped the engine altogether when the engineer left the company. This was also the first Ferrari to have the Testa Rossa name. In fact, it's even more rare than the more powerful V12-powered 250 TR and 250 GTO.

Just 19 were built in their one and only year of production. And now, one of them is up for auction. Chassis number 0670 MDTR is being handled by RM Auctions for the upcoming Consorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. It's expected to bring in somewhere between $3.6 and $4.6 million. Originally sold to a wealthy businessman from Sicily in 1957, it was raced on the island until 1966. It was also entered into the legendary Targa Florio, perhaps the most important open-road endurance race in history.

It also won two hill climb competitions outright and finished in the top three positions a total of 11 times. The entire history of chassis number 0670 has been confirmed by experts and everything on the car is totally authentic.
