The master test driver wants more noise.
Some of the auto industry's most legendary Italian figures have been involved with Lamborghini in some capacity or another. Ferrari 250 GTO co-creator Giotto Bizzarrini designed the engine that powered ever pre-Aventador V12 Lambo. Gian Paolo Dallara conjured up the Miura's chassis. Most of the firm's most famous models were styled by Marcello Gandini. No list of Lamborghini's notable home-grown employees, though, would be complete without former test driver Valentino Balboni, and he's now back improving Lamborghinis once more.
Admittedly, this isn't related to a shock announcement that the world's most famous automotive development driver is returning to the company he's best associated with. Instead, Valentino Balboni's entered the car modification fray via his new "VB" brand. As you can probably tell from the pictures, the new company will initially work on aftermarket exhaust systems for Lamborghini models, with the exquisite Aventador SV titanium package you see in these photos being the firm's first product. VB claims they're incredibly time-intensive to produce (over 350 hours, we're told), so it's perhaps no surprise that the kit will be sold in limited numbers: Only 30 VB Aventador SV exhaust sets will ever be made.
Additional details are scarce at the moment, but we're promised more information will be made available on August 20 when the titanium exhaust kit is officially unveiled during the Monterey Car Week's Concorso Italiano. Hopefully additional words on what VB has lined up in the future are uttered at the event. After all, the VB brand likely wouldn't have been set up for just one limited run set of Aventador exhausts, so it'll be very interesting to see where this new aftermarket modification business goes from here.
