VATH Restores Classic Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3

Classic Cars

A full engine overhaul and partial restoration of body and interior has transformed this classic Merc.

As well as giving the latest AMG models insane levels of power, German tuning house VATH also take on the occasional restoration project. And their latest offering is the Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3. One of their first tasks was to completely overhaul the engine and restore the engine compartment. In this case it was a M100 6.3-liter V8, which delivers 250hp and 376lb-ft of torque. 0-62mph is quoted at 6.5 seconds and top speed at 138mph.

These are impressive figures for a car built between 1968 and 1972. The 300 SEL was breathtakingly quick for its time. The body and interior have been partially restored, while the front and rear axles were overhauled.
