Ford wants to show that the new Mustang can still hoon, with its smaller EcoBoost engine. So, it called Formula Drift star Vaughn Gittin Jr. to show us what can be done.

More specifically, Ford hired Vaughn Gittin Jr. to show the world what Jimmy Fallon can't do. Gittin Jr. was hired as a stunt driver for a bit on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, in which Fallon uses the new S650 Mustang to blow off some steam.

We can't all be drift gods, and putting an early production prototype Mustang EcoBoost in the hands of an accredited driver was probably the smart move and comes with some entertaining results, as you can see below.

The big takeaway is that the new Mustang EcoBoost is still a performer. Both the 4-pot 'Stang and the V8 GT will come with an available Performance Pack, which we're sure was optioned on this car due to the Brembos. The Performance Pack adds some essential go-fast items including those Brembos.

Ford options a Torsen limited-slip diff, optional MagneRide active suspension, front tower brace, and wider rear wheels and tires for the Performance Pack, which also includes an electronic drift brake. Gittin helped develop it, and it clearly works pretty well here.

Ford says the brake looks and acts just like a regular, cabled handbrake, handle and all. Our concern initially was that the unit would take too long to react, though that appears not to be the case. Gittin also shows off some other features, including line lock.

While we find it a little odd to have the feature on a car with a four-cylinder, it's probably a lot easier than getting the smaller motor to break those wider tires loose. We'd bet it's easier on the clutch in this car's 10-speed auto as well.
