Vauxhall has revealed the first official pictures of their refreshed Astra Hatch and Sports Tourer, while announcing a new engine option in the form of a new 195hp BiTurbo diesel unit for the GTC range. As gas prices force buyers to seriously consider oil burners, Vauxhall is at least giving its customers something interesting to mull over. The new GTC 2.0-liter BiTurbo diesel is now the most powerful non-VXR Astra model, producing 195hp and a whopping 295lb-ft of torque.

Thanks in part to a Start/Stop system, which comes as standard, performance figures of 0-60mph in 7.8 seconds and a 139mph top speed is well balanced by a combined 53.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 139g/km. Priced at £23,925, so £995 over the 165hp GTC 2.0-liter CDTi, the Astra GTC BiTurbo receives bespoke 18-inch alloys, a new body-kit, Electronic Climate Control, and 6mm lower ride-height. As for the British-built refreshed Astra Hatch and Sports Tourer, these have been given a more aggressive look thanks to a new front grille and restyled lower section.

There's also a repositioned logo-bar in the upper section, new front indicator lamps and new fog lamp design. At the rear, the new look Astra models feature new rear-panel styling and chrome lower molding. Optional extras include the Driver Assistance Pack, a Rear View Camera Pack, Winter Pack, and LED daytime running lights. Vauxhall also introduced three new colors, namely Sculpture Bronze, Phantom Grey and Deep Sky.
