Before you decide out of hand that you hate this car, you should know that RSIII is actually faster in hybrid form than it is with just the standard 507 horsepower V10. It's faster to 62mph anyway, at 3.1 seconds, the time set by the hybrid is one tenth of a second faster than the standard car. That might not sound like much, but when dealing with 0-62 times that are under 4 seconds, it is a major battle to shave off even a tenth of a second.
The 105 kilowatt electric motor and lithium-ion battery packs which Vermot has put into this new RSIII sends power to the front wheels, while the V10 powers the rear wheels. It sounds like a potent formula, but it does come with a downside. The electric drivetrain adds about 500 pounds to the weight of the RSIII. There is still a net gain in straight line speed, but we'll have to wait and see how it behaves on the track. Photos courtesy of Translogic.
