Video: AMG Talks About Their New Engine

Engine

The guys from AMG give us a guided tour of their new V8, found under the hood of the new SLK 55 AMG.

Hot on the heels of the release of their new SLK 55 AMG, the performance division of Mercedes-Benz has put out this new video explaining some of the technology that went into the 5.5-liter naturally-aspirated V8. The power figures quoted in the video are all in foreign, so to explain, the V8 produces 416 horsepower and 398lb-ft of torque. The engine is a significant improvement over the engine it replaces, although AMG will be sure to let you know that themselves.

It's a very well made video, and for all the tech geeks out there, the part about cylinder deactivation is beautifully complicated. Enjoy.
