There are few cars in the world that are truly meant for the driving enthusiast. Off the top of our heads, we're thinking the Ariel Atom, the Lotus Exige, and the BAC Mono. In this new video from U.K. magazine Autocar, Editor-at-Large Steve Sutcliffe takes a BAC Mono out for a drive and ends up falling in love. We can hardly blame him, as the Mono is literally a street legal F3 car. And yes, it has only one seat.
Weighing in at just 1,190 pounds (thanks to its ultra-lightweight carbon fiber construction), it's powered by a 280hp Cosworth four-cylinder engine and has a top speed of 170mph. It can go from 0 to 60mph in just 2.8 seconds. With near perfect weight distribution, the Mono handles like nothing else in the world and we're jealous simply watching this video. What's really interesting is that the engine is mated to a six-speed manual with paddle shifters, but there are also three pedals that allow the driver to downshift if they so choose.
Costing 79,950 GBP, the BAC Mono is already sold out for the next two years. In the meantime, check out the video, which will surely make you wish you were in Steve's place.
