Since it's unveiling as a concept back in 2009, the Bugatti Galibier 16C has been a mainstay in the media with speculation rife over the four-door's extraordinary performance potential and final body shape. The public's fascination with a car that may never hit production is understandable as it is set to have a minimum 1,000hp and carry a price tag that exceeds that of the $1.7m Bugatti Veyron.

Many have described the Veyron as an engineering pinnacle, which is why after Bugatti put the production run to bed, focusing on a new segment, as opposed to pushing the boundaries of the supercar segment even further, makes sense.

Bugatti's latest teaser video reveals the first new material of the Galibier 16C in almost two years. Clearly, the VW group is in no rush to release a sedan pricier than a Veyron before they know enough customers will be interested in travelling over 200mph with three other passengers. Given the lengthy delay there's a strong chance the concept is also in the midst of a substantial redesign. Check out the teaser video and make up our own mind whether Bugatti should hit the green-light on production of a super sedan.
