Video: Electric RaceAbout Sets Nurburgring Record

Nurburgring

A new record has been set for the fastest EV around the Nurburgring.

A new record has been set for the fastest lap of the Nurburgring by a street-legal EV. Coming in at 8 minutes 42.72 seconds, the car is still more than a minute slower than the gasoline-powered record holder, but also noticeably faster than the previous record holder. That car was the Peugeot EX1, which went around in 9 minutes 1.3 seconds. This new car was built by The Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.

The car is, of course, far from being a proper production car, so don't expect this to spark a rivalry with the Nissan Leaf.
