Evo's Roger Green took the Morgan Plus 8 to the Welsh countryside to see whether Morgan's quickest ever car justifies its £82,500 price tag.

In building this car, Morgan has essentially taken the Morgan Aero 8 mechanicals and wrapped the classic Plus 8 body around them. A modern bonded and riveted aluminum chassis with bespoke BMW running gear has been covered in a traditional-looking body, with power coming from a 4.8-liter 362hp, 370lb-ft of torque V8 that produces a sweet sound out of the side exit exhaust pipes. An optional six-speed torque converter automatic transmission can be operated in 'Sport' and 'Auto' modes, and the car is good for a 0-62mph time of 4.5 seconds, and top speed of 155mph.

On bumpy roads the suspension lets the supercar killer down, while for the same money one could pick up a Nissan GT-R or the new Porsche 911 Carrera S. However this is a car for driving purists and those with a unique sense of style.
