It wasn't so long ago that nobody would have dreamed of trying to win Le Mans with a diesel, but these days the only serious contenders for an overall victory are all oil burners. This year also saw the first hybrid to compete in LMP1. It appears as though next year will see another first, as GreenGT has developed a hydrogen fuel cell electric LMP car. Hydrogen is really the only way an EV could ever compete in an endurance race, so it should be an interesting one.
