As Sebastian Vettel was crowned F1 world driver's champion on the weekend, the powers-that-be at Infiniti gave the green light on the Vettel FX50 to go into production. The details of the special-edition FX50 were covered in September as it was unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show, but apart from knowing the concept will be made a reality, nothing new has been released in terms of price, release date, or number of units produced.

Pilots for the Infiniti Performance Line (IPL) are undoubtedly the IPL G Coupe and convertible, cars we checked out in August, yet Infiniti's Executive Vice President, Andy Palmer, who confirmed the FX50 will enter production, believes that it's a "kind of pilot for IPL", but more in the sense that it wants to produce low-volume, special-edition models profitably.

"It's about being able to do our equivalent of AMG or M-series, and we wanted to test the organization and can the organization cope with these types of special versions." Check out the video link for more information.
