Going 10,000 miles from Europe to Mongolia shows that merely traveling is for sissies.
The buildup for this year's edition of the Mongol Rally has spurred some serious discussion and this new video depicting the race shows how extreme this Rally really is. The 10K mile race is quite perilous.
Prepping for the 2012 Mongol Rally consists of three steps: Getting some teammates, buying a car (off your grandma) and then driving it to Mongolia from Europe. We are talking modes of transport ranging from firetrucks to scoots to vans. The Adventurists' website has said that former "teams have been stuck at borders for 28 days, been shot at, avoided the heftiest of bribes, experienced truly exceptional bowl movements, sunk in rivers, unintentionally driven to China (and Iraq), etc." This is truly a race not meant for the faint-hearted. The event begins July 14th, 2012.
