As Shelby Supercars gets closer to building their self-proclaimed Veyron-beater, testing is at full swing on all aspects of their new supercar. The Tuatara prototype seen in this video blasts from 0-200mph in a ridiculously quick 16 seconds. The title may be misconstrued as a bit misleading, as the SSC Tuatara doesn't have an official top speed yet, however its acceleration blows its competitors out of the water. The prototype seen here is the Tuatara's guts inside an Ultimate Aero.

In comparison to current supercars, the Tuatara technology allows the car to hit 200mph 1.68 seconds faster than the Koenigsegg Agera R and 0.7 seconds faster than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. According to those at the site of the record, times of 15.1 seconds and 15.8 seconds were reported.

In case you forgot, the Tuatara packs a twin-turbocharged 7.0-liter V8 engine that can bang out an incredible 1,350hp. All that power is transferred to the wheels by either a SMG 7-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic transmission. The claimed top speed for Shelby Supercars' Tuatara would be a world production record 275mph. As more information comes out on the Tuatara, we will bring it to you.
