This is a great video of the Toyota GT86 prototype winter testing on the track and pulling off some sweet drifts and performance maneuvers. Comparing their latest creation with the Japanese carmaker's first car, the Toyota Sports 800, is a wonderful touch and is an excellent visual offering of how far they have come in 50 years of car manufacturing. Homage is also paid to the Toyota Corolla GT AE86, which formed part of the inspiration behind the GT 86.

With an 800cc petrol engine and 44hp, the tiny Sports 800 could reach speeds of up to 100mph; only 3,131 were built between 1965 and 1969 and set Toyota on their way.

The GT86 dwarfs the 800, yet is considered a compact coupe by modern standards. Perhaps a comparison with the 2000 GT, Toyota's first halo sports car, would have been more apt. Nonetheless this is a sweet video showcasing what the GT86 is really made of.
