And the fight wasn't about money.

Although it was largely kept out of the news, actors Vin Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson were recently involved in a feud regarding the next movie in the Fast and Furious franchise. Fate of the Furious only just arrived in theaters but the studio is moving at full steam ahead to get Fast 9 into production ASAP. And that’s where the two stars had a disagreement. According to TMZ, both actors wanted to headline the upcoming film, meaning this was all about ego and star power.

Money wasn’t the issue. Real estate was, meaning who receives the best action scenes, the hottest girls and the most face time overall. As we first reported on this late last summer, there was tension between them on the Furious 8 set, despite their efforts at the time to resolve those differences. Fortunately, production wrapped up on time without their personal animosities getting involved, but there were concerns regarding the subsequent sequels. Also, according to The Wrap, there was a scene involving Johnson and co-star Jason Statham filmed for Furious 8 that was particularly well-received in early test screenings.

It was so good, in fact, that there was possible talk of a spin-off. Vin Diesel didn’t like that one bit, and quickly nixed the idea because of his producer status. That’s all in the past now because Diesel and Johnson are now “good,” with Johnson acknowledging Diesel’s producer status and his longtime commitment to the franchise.
