Since he first appeared in Fast Five, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, who plays the no-nonsense Agent Hobbs, has become one of the most popular members of the Fast & Furious family. He went on to star alongside Jason Statham in the spin-off film Hobbs and Shaw but was noticeably absent in Fast 9 after he didn't get along with Vin Diesel while filming 2017's The Fate of the Furious. There's a good reason why the two actors don't share any scenes together in that movie.

Their rocky relationship is no secret, with the two actors exchanging insults with each other online. But now Vin Diesel wants The Rock to return for Fast & Furious 10 and settle their differences once and for all.

"My little brother Dwayne... the time has come. The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house," Diesel wrote in a public plea to The Rock on Instagram (we're not sure how often Johnson gets called "little brother," and we're not sure how much he likes it).

"There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don't send well wishes... but the time has come. Legacy awaits. I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love... but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle, you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can't be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny."

At the time of writing, The Rock hasn't responded to Vin Diesel's plea, but the actor has already made it clear that he's done with the mainline Fast & Furious franchise. "I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast and Furious movies they do, but that will be without me," he said in a recent interview with SlashFilm.

We'll have to wait and see if he changes his mind after Vin Diesel's public plea. We hope he returns because his presence was sorely missed in Fast 9 amid all the physics-defying stunts like a Dodge Charger swinging on a rope Tarzan style and Pontiac Fiero rocket car flying into space. Fast 10 will release in theaters on April 7, 2023, and will be the first of a two-part finale.
