Michelle Rodriguez recently aired her criticisms regarding the Fast and Furious franchise's lack of screen time for its female stars, such as herself. "F8 is out digitally today, I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one. Or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise." Without question she has a point, and now Vin Diesel has responded, alongside Rodriguez, via his own Instagram account.

N/A

Actually, it's Rodriguez who does most of the talking, but in the text Diesel makes it clear he completely agrees with his longtime co-star. "Proud of Our (sic) saga...but we must try to reach higher each time. The Challenge is what makes it fun and exciting. Its (sic) also why this saga has reached the level that it has...you have been the best fans in film history and we are forever grateful…Dom and Letty." Reading between the lines here, Diesel has no problem with a greater role for women, and that'll likely happen in the upcoming ninth and tenth installments, both of which are in development.

Because of his producer status, Diesel has the muscle (no pun intended) to push the studio and writers to come up with scripts that give greater screen time to Rodriguez and other actresses. We'll see in 2019 when Furious 9 is due whether that happens.
