The Volkswagen Golf GTI and R duo are usually seen as a pair of conservative sportscars but they are popular products within the aftermarket community. Acknowledging this is the brand itself, who has introduced a series of custom parts curated by specialists in the field. These pieces predominately alter the exterior of the car but some additions for the cabin are available too. These are not as eye-catching as the bits applied to its BBS Concept, but it's still a pleasant addition.

Hein Schafer, Senior Vice President of Product Marketing and Strategy at Volkswagen of America says that the reason for introducing these parts is to promote individuality. He says, "The GTI is our most storied enthusiast vehicle. Its owners have a history of dialing the car in to match their personality and lifestyle, and we are proud to offer a catalog of dynamic options to help them do so."

To make the Golf GTI and R appear more distinctive, brand specialist Oettinger Sports Systems has penned a set of front and rear lip valances as well as a roof edge spoiler. For the sake of convenience and a professional fitment, all of these parts can be painted and installed by the Volkswagen dealership network or independent auto body shops.

Osram has also gotten on board to develop a set of unique LED dynamic turn signals for the door mirror housings that are darkened when inactive. Once ignited, the lights follow a sequential fluid motion from the inside out. These can be fitted at dealerships without any specific coding. A new dynamic center cap design enters the catalog as a finishing touch. This detail stays upright as the wheel rotates as you would see on a Rolls-Royce.

For convenience and vehicle protection, the Volkswagen Golf and R will have access to rubber mats from MuddyBuddy ideal for those who frequent murky environments while hiking, mountain biking, or other active undertakings. A carpet option from Monster Mats is available to those who wish to maintain a more contemporary look.

Available late spring this year will be a set of guards for the rear bumper supplied by Bumperdillo. This will come in handy for those who load large pieces of cargo into the trunk that could cause damage to the paintwork. The final option in the catalog is a frameless and auto-dimming rearview mirror that incorporates the HomeLink Connect system. This joins the front assist feature which was introduced to the range late last year.
