The Volkswagen Beetle, the original at least, has quite a history in motorsport. Most are familiar with those old Baja Bugs that tore up the Southern California desert and every other barren wasteland their drivers ventured. But things have come a long way since then, especially technology. Those old air-cooled Beetles are out of production, having been replaced by not one, but two successors already. And the latest Beetle is something of a bad ass itself. That college girl favorite bubble shape of its predecessor is gone.
This latest Beetle has that motorsport spirit of the original, something VW is fully aware of. Check out this video showcasing the Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team prepping its GRC Beetle.
