Reports from Autocar indicate that Volkswagen is planning on offering a performance-oriented R version of its sixth-generation Jetta. The German automaker has already launched its Golf R and Scirocco R performance car to overseas markets, and VW say that it has had plans for some time now to expand its performance offerings around the world. VW publicized a Jetta equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 to European media outlets during the car's official launch last week.

Details about its performance capabilities were missing, but Autocar states that a six-speed dual-clutch transmission was fitted into this Jetta, as well as all-wheel drive. VW insiders say that the Jetta R is being heavily considered and that if customer demand is there, and we're sure there is, it will be produced.
