Following Volkswagen Group's commitment to bring 75 all-electric models to market along with 60 hybrid vehicles across its brands by 2029, Volkswagen the brand has announced it's on track to reveal 34 of its own new models in 2020.

The German automaker describes 2020 as being a "model and electric offensive." Indeed, 2020 is shaping up to be a year where the automotive landscape shifts drastically in Europe with new emissions regulations going into effect, helping to shape Volkswagen's portfolio globally. Electrified and all-electric cars will become Volkswagen's bread and butter.

VW is vague about what precisely the new cars will be, and where they will be available. However, the German carmaker did reveal that it will include 12 SUVs and eight electric or hybrid vehicles, as it works to a carbon-neutral balance by 2050.

Amongst the cars arriving globally, we know the small and electric ID.3 will be in Europe next summer, followed by an electric crossover aimed at the US market called the ID.4 or the ID.5.

Europe will likely receive non-electric models like the return of the Golf Wagon and the launch of the Golf GTI, GTD, and R variants. The Arteon Shooting Brake should also appear along with the Tiguan R, which is unlikely to see US roads.

The VW Atlas Cross Sport will definitely be here in the US and will be built at Volkswagen's Chattanooga, Tennessee, plant alongside an updated version of the three-row Atlas.

It looks like a busy year for everyone, as the 34 vehicle count doesn't include Volkswagen Group's Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Skoda, and Seat brands that also have new models in the pipeline.

2019 has proved to be a successful year for VW in regards to vehicle launches, with the Golf 8, ID.3. T-Cross, and T-Roc enjoying global premieres.
