VW will present a road-going prototype of the newly developed Polo R WRC for the FIA World Championship. Described by VW Head of Development as "the hottest Polo ever," it will begin its round-the-world tour from 2013 at various WRC races. At its heart lies a 1.6-liter TSI engine with 300hp, which enables the concept to accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds. The extremely sporty small series will launch late next year, and will be distinguished by a rear spoiler, diffuser, sports suspension and R-WRC logos. Motorsport-like performance comes from a 220hp 2.0-liter TSI unit. Both cars were recently presented at the 2012 Worthersee Tour event in Austria, along with a Golf GTI White Concept, GTI Black Dynamic and Scirocco R ConceptBlue Study.
